What Is AI Radio?
15 July 2026Every track you hear on AI Radio was generated by a machine. Every voice, every song, every strange three-minute detour — none of it was played or sung by a person. That's not the interesting part.
The interesting part is that a person decided what you'd hear next.
AI-generated music isn't rare anymore. There are entire streaming playlists built from it, churned out algorithmically and served up because it's cheap and it fills space. AI Radio is trying to do something else: treat AI generation as a genre and a medium, not a shortcut. Every track is picked, sequenced, and placed by a human — the same job a good DJ or a good playlist editor has always done. The machine writes the notes. The person decides what they mean next to each other.
Curation, not autoplay
An AI radio station could just generate music forever and let it play. That's not this one. Tracks get tagged, reviewed, and slotted against the time of day they actually work — steady and supportive in the daytime, deeper and stranger late at night. Some tracks get held back for months because they don't fit anywhere yet. A few never air at all.
Every so often the schedule breaks its own rules on purpose. A sea shanty in the middle of a run of daytime pop. A harpsichord track that shouldn't work and does. That's not a scheduling error — it's the whole point. A station that never surprises you isn't being curated, it's just playing.
Beyond music
The same idea extends past the playlist. AI Radio also produces original audio fiction and podcasts — narrated in AI voices, written and shaped by a human:
- Eurovision (Un)Official — AI-generated parody entries from across Europe, played completely straight.
- Dickey Nonce — a darkly comic monodrama about a lonely cryptographic verification consultant whose cases start mirroring his own life.
- Tales of a Building Manager — a weary, warm building manager describing the increasingly strange tenants of 635 Cherry Tree Lane.
- Prompt Response — AI language models competing head-to-head in a quiz show, entertainment over technical correctness.
None of these shows connect to each other. They don't need to. The thread running underneath all of it is the same one running under the music: AI doesn't replace creativity, it redistributes it. The machine does the generating. The human does the deciding.
